When Free Games Online Are Better than Buying

Gamers have two options today when it comes to accessing their most beloved games. They can either buy the games, offline or online, or look for free games online. The option of free online games is sometimes regarded as the lesser of the two options, a mistake at the very least. Contrary to the common adage, not everything free is worthless. In fact, the best things in life are for free as they say. How do you therefore determine which of the two options to result to when you want to play a popular game?

Determining the best among the paid for and the free online games is an interesting engagement. Local and online stores usually offer a host of game titles with assorted and always variant prices. Yet the same games are available online and for free. Fact is, both the paid for and the free online games have variant quality. Some are of very high quality while others are of low quality. Do not be surprised if you find a low quality game on sale or find a high quality game link being offered for free on an online forum.

With this in mind, it follows that if you can find the best free games online, then you save on your money. Why should you buy what is available for free? There are however instances when buying a game is the best possible alternative. Such instances include when the free version of the game you want is not available online, when the free version has minimal features as compared to the sale version and when you do not want to spend time looking for free games online.

Reality however is that we have very high quality free games available online today. Most of these represent the latest versions of each game and with over 90% of their features activated. Accessing a free games portal also guarantees you of having a high number of games at your disposal and choice, more than would be possible if you were to purchase all the games available. Free games can also be played online without having to download them onto your hard disk, because they are always available and accessible any time you feel like. A word of caution is also necessary. You should be very careful on where you get your free games online. Ensure that you download your free games from reliable sites so that you do not mess up your PC with spyware or viruses.

I’m Still Grateful to My Elementary Music Teacher

When I was in the fifth grade, the school I attended introduced a music program for students in the third, fourth and fifth grade. I did not have much of a concept of music at the time, but I can say in all honesty that my elementary music teacher had a profound impact on my life.

We were all excited about the prospect of taking a music class, mainly because it was something out of the ordinary, and in walked Mrs. Stone. She had a piano in her classroom and two stacks of textbooks about the fundamentals of music, along with some very simple songs with which we could sing along.

On the first day, she told us why she had become an elementary music teacher. She said that she enjoyed working with elementary school students, and she loved teaching the elements of music to an eager and enthusiastic audience.

She invited us to bring in any kind of instrument that we could play and allowed us a five-minute window in the beginning of class to perform whatever piece we knew. I still remember bringing in a tiny electronic keyboard and playing Hot Cross Buns.

I could not quit smiling when Mrs. Stone started the applause, and my fellow students looked at me as if I had just performed Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. In truth, it took me about a day of constant practice to learn how to play it, and I was so proud of myself that I just had to show off what I had learned.

My elementary music teacher also taught us about such things as melody, pitch, rhythm, harmony and timbre, and encouraged us to go to concerts of any kind when we had the opportunity. She wanted us to see the beauty in music, which is something that I absorbed like a sponge, and I have carried it on throughout my entire life.

I remember when a local chamber orchestra made a visit to our school. I was mesmerized, and I think that Mrs. Stone was even more taken than me, because for the first time ever, she was not explaining to us what the different instruments were and why the conductor was waving his arms through the air like a madman.

She just sat with her hands clasped in front of her on the edge of her seat and listened. I will find myself sitting in that exact posture to this day when I go to a symphony or opera.

My elementary music teacher instilled a love of music in me that will carry on throughout the rest of my life, and for that, I am eternally grateful to her.

Dinner Party Ideas

When I was in college, I would throw a dinner party at the drop of a hat. Everything was always pretty raucous back then, and I didn’t have to think that hard for good dinner party ideas. Basically, all you had to do was get your friends together, buy some cheap booze, cook up a few dishes, and get to work eating. Sometimes, it would not even be that involved. Occasionally, we would have takeout for dinner parties. Anyway, you get the idea. The people themselves provided the fun. Everyone was so young and hyper that no planning was required.

Nowadays, however, things have slowed down a little bit. I have to put a lot more thought into dinner party ideas than I used to. After all, each person has his own life and there is not the same sense of community that I used to have. As a result, my dinner party planning has gotten a lot more elaborate. First of all, I put a lot of energy into figuring out just the right dishes. When you have vegetarian friends, friends with food allergies, and friends with very different tastes, you need to plan! Finding just the right appetizers, main courses, and side dishes can take me more than a few hours of sitting down and thinking.

I also have to pick out the best dinner party games that I can get a hold of. Sometimes, I like to just have everyone get together and chat after dinner, but more often I like to play some boardgames with my guests. You don’t really need elaborate dinner party ideas just a few simple ones. Charades it is always a good seller, and Risk is a pretty exciting game if you have a more competitive crowd. Then again, if you have performers, you can play theater games. There are plenty of theater activity books out there that will give you dozens and dozens of different games you can try with nothing but your imagination and a few simple props.

I have tried to throw theme parties a few times with some success. The best effort was when I got a mystery party together with some friends. It started off a little bit rocky, but by the end everyone was really into solving the murder mystery. There were so many twists and turns that I almost felt like it was real and I knew what was going to happen ahead of time. It was probably the best dinner party idea I ever had.

I used to sell used cars, and so naturally I

I used to sell used cars, and so naturally I know every trick in the book. One of the most important ones is to pay attention to what the customers know. If the customer is unfamiliar with the blue book used car values, you probably have a sucker on your hands. It’s not that knowing the blue book value makes you wise in all matters of automotive knowledge, but not knowing about it means that you have no way to evaluate the value of the vehicle. Blue book values are basically an estimate of how much a car is worth at any point in its lifetime. They get pretty detailed at times. You can tell a lot from the age of a car, how well taken care of it has been, whether it has had any accidents, and what repairs it has had done.

The problem is that the bluebook value is approximate. It gives you a good place to start from but it doesn’t really tell you about any particular individual car. For that, you need the expert knowledge of mechanic. Nonetheless, when you are buying cars, it is a really good idea to start with the blue book automotive value. At the very least, it can help you narrow down the choices to a manageable few. A lot of the time, people try to sell their used cars for way more than they are worth. They become convinced that, because of the sentimental value, the car has lost very little value over its lifetime. In reality though, cars depreciate very quickly. Knowing the blue book value means that you can avoid sellers with unrealistic demands. This means they won’t waste your time and you won’t waste theirs.

Of course, blue book values are not the only way of evaluating cars. The blue book value tells you a lot about how much a car is worth, but it doesn’t tell you how much use you will get out of it. For that, you would do better to buy something like consumer reports. Consumer Reports focuses less on value and more on usefulness. It will tell you what repairs are most likely to be needed, how long the car will last, and if it is a good buy in the first place. Neither one of them is a complete resource, but when you combine blue book value and consumer reports, you get a pretty good picture of the car as a whole.

The Value Of Funny Movies

If you know someone who is really picky about movies, you probably know it is hard to get them to watch funny movies. Film snobs often need to have a complicated and ground breaking plot that is serious in nature in order to be fulfilled by a movie. They may see humor as something that will never be a work of art, and if something does not make a statement about politics or the world at large, it is not worth watching. That is a shame. There is a value that you can find with comedy movies that you can not get with any other type of entertainment.

I have learned through life that taking everything seriously is not an option. Its not a good way to live, and it can quickly lead to a depression that is almost unshakeable. You have to have times when things are just for fun, and that is why funny movies are so valuable to me. I love a good drama, and a good film that makes you think, but that is not always something I want when life is sitting on my shoulders. I want to laugh at infantile jokes once in a while. A funny movie can make you laugh and feel good, and that can be the best gift when life gets to be too much.

Though not all funny movies are all that funny, there are many different types of them. That means what works for one person will not work for another. However, something is going to work. Different styles of comedy work for different people. There are some that love slapstick humor, which is a lot of physical comedy, and some go for the movies full of zingy one liners and impossible situations presented in a humorous way. Life is not always funny, and it can be hard to laugh at ourselves some times, so it makes sense that laughing at funny movies is the stress outlet that so many of us need.

When you find funny movies that you love, buy them. You may not watch them all of the time, but a good one is always great to pull out on occasion when you need it the most. You can find them on Pay Per View, or on Demand through some cable companies, but they are not always going to be available when you want them. You can order or rent, but that is not always as timely as you need either. When a funny movie really touches you, hang on to the feeling it gives you, and keep it nearby for when you need that release again.

Part time jobs can be a great solution to cash

Part time jobs can be a great solution to cash flow problems

Economies always have their ups and downs. When your ready cash and income are leaning towards the down side, it can make you nervous. You see that steep rises in food, fuel and energy costs are eating away at your savings, household budget and ready cash to meet emergencies. It may be time to think about a part time job to offset these unwelcome worries.

This applies to people of all ages. If you’re a stay-at-home Mom, getting a part time job which takes just 10 or 15 hours a week away from your home responsibilities may be just the ticket to easing your financial distress. Retired persons sometimes enjoy short-hour jobs, simply to get out of the house for a while, as well as the extra income on top of Social Security benefits. Teens who go for such jobs, after school or on the weekends, can supplement their allowance and get a few more goodies they might not otherwise be able to afford. Even youngsters, old enough to responsibly cover a paper route, can earn extra cash for toys or entertainment outings. Kids also benefit by building credibility in the community as well as confidence in their own abilities.

While full time jobs are scarce for the career worker, part time jobs are found in abundance. People who must rely on their job for a full time income cannot afford to take these jobs, which simply won’t pay the mortgage. Part time jobs are usually minimum wage, making them less attractive to the general job seeker. This works to your advantage if you’re only seeking supplemental income.

You may be surprised to learn that you can find part time jobs by visiting local businesses who aren’t even advertising for help. Such jobs are often filled by word of mouth or by recommendations from existing employees. You can often successfully use the networking technique to canvass friends and family members for part time job opportunities.

If you’re in a hurry to get some extra income going, fast food restaurants and gas stations are good places to apply. These types of businesses tend to have turnover at a higher rate than other job markets. When using this strategy, be sure you keep checking back, at least once a week, after you’ve put in your application. This gives the employer the idea that you’re serious about working and thus gives you an edge over other, less diligent applicants.

So if you’re feeling a financial crunch or just want to build a savings for emergencies, consider the part time job market. Opportunities abound. Your first paycheck will let you sleep a little better or, if you’re a kid, open up some delightful shopping excursions.

Looking For Overseas Jobs?

Are you bored with your life and want a little adventure? Are you single and in the mood to travel the world? Do you have a skill or education that is needed almost anywhere on the globe? If so, you may want to pick up your life and move it somewhere else. Some people are looking for overseas jobs so that they can see the world and still do what they do the best. There are many variables to consider when you want to pick up and move far, far away, but with a little research and some motivation, you can find some great opportunities to live your life the way you want it to be.

There are limits as to where you can get overseas jobs, but that does not mean you should give up on your favorite destination ideas. Countries change policies about workers coming from other countries all of the time, depending on the demand on their economy. Many times, finding overseas jobs in your favorite areas depends on the needs of that particular place. Some countries find that they have shortages in some types of skilled labor or professionals and that need is so great that they will allow people with those skills to emigrate into the country. It stands to reason, however, that you have to have a skill in demand to have the most options.

Some countries will always have overseas jobs open for you if you have the right skills. There are some professions that are always needed. Those include, but are not limited to, nurses, construction workers, and teachers. If you have a degree and experience in any of those, you may find that you have the most options in the way of overseas jobs and opportunities. However, there are needs on and off for almost all other types of jobs, so keep your eyes open for when you may have your chance to get moving across the ocean for a new adventure.

You will have to have a work visa to get overseas jobs in most countries. These are applied for before you go to a country. In some cases, you can get a holiday or non-working visa and then apply for a working one when you get somewhere, but that may not be your best option. You want to find permission to work before you arrive or you may find that you have to turn around and go home. Start out by looking for listing for overseas jobs before you pack and get everything done first. It may take you months, so be prepared to be patient. It’ll be worth it if this is something you really want to do.

Some countries will always have job openings, and some have tougher limits on who can take jobs. For example, you may find that a job has to be listed for a certain amount of time without anyone who is a citizen of that country applying or qualifying for the position before it can be considered by you for overseas jobs. In other cases, areas are so in need of skilled workers that they are taking people left and right. No matter how big or small the need, however, there are always rules and regulations that you must follow and always hoops through which you must jump. Take you time and get it right and you will find the adventure of a lifetime of which you seek.

Electronic Music Artist

Being an electronic music artist used to place he firmly in the Avant-garde, but nowadays more people are making electric music than ever before. From Djs to synthesizer geeks, Midi composers to indie rockers, playing electronic digital music is for all sorts of different people. The question is, is it for you?

I never really considered myself an electronic music artist until recently. I was just sort of an experimental musician. Some of the things that I messed with were electronic instruments, but I also used a lot of acoustic stuff. I was as likely to pick up a guitar as a keyboard, an accordion as a theremin. Still, as I progressed, I got more and more interested in digital music processing. You see, nowadays it is much easier to make interesting electric effects by simulating them than by actually recording them in the field. Electronic instruments have gotten so good and so sophisticated that you can get pretty much any sound you want out of one. Of course, it isn’t quite that simple. It requires quite a bit of knowhow and programming savvy in some cases. Even so, most experimental musicians if they stick with it for long enough End up as electronic music artists.

Of course, the electronic music artist scene is much different depending on what part of it you are in. If you’re an indie musician, the target audience is usually hipsters in their late teens through late 30s. If you’re a DJ, you can play for pretty much anyone. Club music is in, and there are gigs anywhere from weddings to raves. If you are a more experimental musician, however, you really have to make a niche for yourself. Not every city has an electronic music artist scene and the ones that do are often sort of insular. By networking and getting to know people within your scene, you can make a living and start to meet with some commercial success.

Like any musician, an electronic music artist has to get his music heard in order to succeed. In some ways, this is easier for electronic musicians. Because a lot of your music is digitally produced, people don’t necessarily have to hear you live to get a feel for what you sound like. Your live shows will be much closer to your recordings than with other musicians. This has both its advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, you never hear about electronic music artists who are only good live. Most electronic musicians learn to put together a good recording. On the other hand, this makes it harder to make an impression on people during a live show. You have to do something really spectacular to make the right impression on people.

Framed Movie Posters

Hanging posters on the wall starts as a teenager but needn’t stop there. With a quality frame, a print or poster can look classy in the right setting. Framed movie posters are very popular, whether to remind one of a favorite film or to set a mood in a room. In addition to homes, they are bought for restaurants, nightclubs and other businesses. They come in all shapes and sizes and some are reproductions of the original posters of classic films, going back to the 1930s.

Buyers can choose by genre or a certain actor, actress or director but it’s also possible to browse through the most popular buys. These framed movie posters tend to be blockbusters, cult films or other films that did well at the box office. Some images are iconic and instantly recognizable, such as The Godfather with Marlon Brando as Don Corleone standing underneath the puppet string logo. Quentin Tarantino films are also very familiar, particularly Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill.

A series of Rocky images, featuring Sylvester Stallone, usually shows Rocky with his fist clenched in the air. This is a simple message. However, some images only mean something to people who have seen the movie. For example, a framed movie poster of Fight Club does not show its stars, Brad Pitt or Edward Norton. Instead, it shows a bar of pink soap. Fans of the movie will understand the significance.

Successful franchises always produce various posters attached to each film. Star Wars has a number of them from the original trilogy onwards, depicting Hans Solo, Luke Skywalker etc. There is also one with a separate picture of Yoda, wielding a light saber. Raiders of the Lost Ark too has many pictures, usually involving Indiana Jones with his bullwhip. James Bond has stylish posters, particularly the early movies, such as Dr No, From Russia with Love and Goldfinger.

Heroes and anti-heroes adorn many a wall. One of the most famous scenes is of Steve McQueen trying to escape on his motorcycle in The Great Escape. We always feel sorry for the underdog, as in the 1933 version of King Kong, in which Kong attempts to fight off the planes as he stands on top of the Empire State Building. Romantic heroes and heroines are also popular in framed movie posters. Clarke Gable and Vivian Leigh, as Rhett Butler and Scarlet O’Hara in Gone with the Wind, embrace in a beautifully reproduced black and white photograph. The original publicity poster for Casablanca is still available, showing Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, standing defiant and cheek-to-cheek.

Each genre has its share of posters over the decades. Musicals include the classic Wizard of Oz, shown every holiday but we never tire of it. Posters show Dorothy, Scarecrow, Lion and the Tin Man looking for the Yellow Brick Road. Other musicals include Singing in the Rain, My Fair Lady through to Saturday Night Fever and High School Musical. Film Noir is represented by Double Indemnity, Gilda, The Asphalt Jungle and The Big Sleep. Fantasy lovers will go for a framed movie poster from Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter or Labyrinth.

Five creative party theme ideas

Everybody loves a party. It’s fun to get together with friends and enjoy good food in a festive atmosphere. If you have frequent get-togethers, you begin to notice that it’s harder to come up with creative party theme ideas. If you stick with the same old, same old, your parties can lose some of their luster and become, well, old. Here we’ve got five great creative party theme ideas that will put some sparkle back in your parties.

Host an around the world cuisine potluck party. This creative party theme idea is fun for everyone and lightens your party prep load considerably. Each guest brings a dish from a foreign cuisine. You’ll want to coordinate your dishes and cuisines for a representative sampling. You can make a list of courses, such as salad, side dish, entrees and desserts. Have your guests sign up for the cuisine of their choice and try not to duplicate cuisines. Serve each course separately and offer a choice of sherbets to refresh the palate between courses.

Another creative party theme idea is the Medieval feast. This one takes a bit of research for recipes, but it’s well worth the trouble. In medieval times, food preservation was a necessity. Seasonings played a central role in recipes, with unusual but heavenly combinations. For example, a roast beef was seasoned with cinnamon as a base, served with a cinnamon flavored gravy that is out of this world. Galangal was a frequent ingredient, hard to find today, with ginger a close match for a substitution. You can find many recipes adapted to the modern kitchen on the net. Try setting the table with Medieval approximations of plates (trenchers), goblets and utensils. For extra fun, invite your guests to come in period costumes.

Wine tasting parties are becoming quite popular. There are websites that offer hosted parties in your locale, featuring outstanding small boutique wines from around the world. The party host brings everything you need, including a selection of foods which pair well with the wine varieties of your choice. The host educates you and your guests on the basics of wine tasting. You and your guests may order the wines you like, typically at a good discount.

Do you have a cook in your circle who’s having a birthday? Throw a cook’s potluck party. Here’s how it works. Each guest brings a dish in an attractive container and serving ware. These are the birthday cook’s gift! The entree might be a roasted fish in a clay cooker, complete with a fish basket rack. Serve the wine in beautiful goblets. The serving dishes and utensils go home with the birthday cook.

Our last creative party theme idea is simple and easy to host. Centered on a hearty soup and salad theme, this party works well for a winter get together. Offer at least three soups and salads and several loaves of artisan breads. Casual, fun and filling!

Time to plan!
